It is injected under the skin (subcutaneous or s.c.) or as a long-lasting version into the gluteal muscle (the buttocks).
If you are giving yourself injections it is very important that you follow the doctor's instructions and the instructions included with the medication very carefully. The short-acting octreotide injection should be evenly spaced over 24 hours in order to control symptoms most effectively.
