How does Betaderm work? What will it do for me?
Betamethasone valerate is a corticosteroid that is used for
the topical treatment of skin irritations. It helps to reduce
the redness, itching, and swelling of skin conditions such as
eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, and seborrhea.

How should I use Betaderm?
Betaderm is usually applied two or three times daily

It is very important that Betaderm be applied exactly

What form(s) does Betaderm come in?
Betaderm® is available as a cream, ointment or scalp lotion.
Cream: Each gram contains betamethasone 0.1% (regular) or 0.05%
(mild) in a water washable aqueous base of mineral oil, white
petrolatum, polyethylene glycol 1,000, polyoxyethylene stearyl
cetyl ether, cetyl and stearyl alcohol, propylene glycol, chlorocresol,
purified water, sodium hydroxide, and phosphoric acid.
Ointment: Each gram contains betamethasone 0.1% (regular) or
0.05% (mild) in a base consisting of fractionated coconut oil
and white petrolatum, and chlorocresol as a preservative.
Scalp lotion: Each gram contains betamethasone 0.1% in a base
of carbomer, isopropyl alcohol, purified water, and sodium hydroxide.
Who should NOT take Betaderm?
This product should not be used by anyone with:
tuberculosis of the skin
fungal, yeast, or viral skin lesions
herpes simplex
chickenpox
vaccinia
allergy to any of the ingredients of the medication
What side effects are possible with Betaderm?
The side effects listed below are not experienced by everyone
who takes Betaderm. If you are concerned about side effects,
discuss the risks and benefits of Betaderm with your
doctor. Your health professional may be able to help you to
deal with some of the effects.
The following side effects may go away as your body becomes
used to the medicine; check with your doctor if they continue
to become bothersome.
Less common or rare
