Cardura is primarily indicated for the treatment of hypertension, and can be used as the initial or starting treatment to control patients who are newly diagnosed with the disease. The usual dosage for the treatment of hypertension is around 1 to 16 mg daily. An initial dose of 1 mg is recommended daily, to be taken for 1 to 2 weeks. This is primarily done to minimize postural hypotensive effects. After the initial period, the dosage may be increased to 2 mg to be taken once daily, for an additional two weeks.
