Clonidine is a central alpha-adrenergic agonist. In the United States, clonidine tablets are sold under the brand name Catapres while clonidine skin patches are sold under the brand name Catapres-TTS. In the United States, although it has been investigated for treatment of different neuropsychiatric disorders, it was first used to treat high blood pressure.
