Coreg is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline Inc. Coreg is the only beta-blocking medication that is approved for use in mild, moderate, and severe heart failure. Coreg is also approved for hypertension and can be beneficial in hypertensive patients with diabetes and high cholesterol. Coreg is now approved for reducing the risk of death among heart attack patients with impaired cardiac function.

It is important to take your medicine every day as directed by your doctor or health care provider. Do not stop taking Coreg suddenly, because you could have serious side effects, such as chest pain or a heart attack. If your doctor decides you should stop taking Coreg, your doctor or health care provider may slowly reduce your dose over a period of time before stopping it completely.
