Cosopt, a Dorzolamide Hydrochloride and Timolol Maleate derivative, is primarily indicated to reduce elevated intraocular pressure in cases of open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It is used when beta-blocker therapy has failed to achieve target intraocular pressure levels.
Contraindications:
The use of Cosopt is contraindicated in people who have histories of bronchial asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, sinus bradycardia, second or third degree atrioventricular block, over cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock, or known or suspected hypersensitivity to any components or excipients of this product.
Caution must be observed prior to taking Cosopt. It should not be taken in a lower dose or in larger doses to prevent possible side effects. This drug should be applied exactly as prescribed. Each vial of Cosopt ophthalmic solution contains a clear, colorless, slightly viscous solution. The recommended dosage is one drop in the affected eye twice daily.
