Metacam drug description and what Metacam is used to treat

Metacam, also known as Meloxicam as its generic name, is a non-steroidal and an anti-inflammatory drug commonly abbreviated as (NSAID) which is used for dogs and cats. This means that the drug is used to help with inflammation or as a treatment for osteoarthritis in dogs and cats. This drug is strictly for animal use only and the federal law of the United States restricts its use only under the direct order of a licensed veterinarian.
Though Metacam is normally used by cats and dogs, it is important to note that with the repeated use of the drug to cats, it may cause acute renal failure and death. This means that any additional injectable or oral Meloxicam is not helpful for cats. On the other hand, dogs younger than 6 months must not use the drug. This goes the same for dogs used for breeding, pregnant and lactating ones. Dogs that are suffering from bleeding illnesses are not advised to be administered with the drug since there are no studies which provide that the drug is safe for these dogs.
A test was done to see what adverse reactions might be caused through the injection or oral administration of the drug.
