You must have negative results from 2 pregnancy tests: the first test will be done at the time you and your prescriber decide SORIATANE might be right for you. The second test will be done during the first 5 days of your menstrual period, right before you start your SORIATANE treatment, or your prescriber may suggest another time. Timing of pregnancy testing throughout the treatment course should be monthly or based on your prescriber’s recommendation.
You must use 2 effective forms of birth control at the same time even if you think you cannot become pregnant unless one of the following is true for you: you have had an operation called a hysterectomy to remove your womb (uterus); your prescriber says you have gone through menopause (the "change of life"); or you choose a method called abstinence, which means you are absolutely certain (100% sure) you will not have sex with a male partner for at least 1 month before, during, and for at least 3 years after you stop SORIATANE treatment.
You must continue to use 2 separate, effective methods of birth control at the same time for 1 month before taking SORIATANE (even when one is a hormonal contraceptive method), during treatment and for at least 3 years after you stop SORIATANE treatment.
You must have signed a Patient Information/Consent form that contains warnings about the risk for potential birth defects if the fetus is exposed to SORIATANE.
During SORIATANE treatment and for 2 months after you stop SORIATANE treatment, you must avoid drinks, foods and all medicines that contain alcohol. This includes over-the- counter products that contain alcohol.
