Timolol Ophthalmic is used to treat glaucoma and other causes of high pressure in the eye. Glaucoma when left untreated will result to possible loss of vision.

Timolol Ophthalmic is only recommended to those who are not allergic to timolol, or if the patient is suffering any of the following: asthma or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); certain serious heart conditions, especially “AV block”; or severe or uncontrolled congestive heart failure.

Before taking this medicine, a dose adjustment or special test may be necessary for those who are suffering the following: a history of heart disease or congestive heart failure; breathing problems such as bronchitis or emphysema; diabetes; history of stroke, blood clot, or circulation problems; a thyroid disorder; a muscle disorder such as myasthenia gravis; kidney disease; or liver disease.
